Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia and Ministry of Culture Republic of Slovenia, Cankarjev dom Congress Center Ljubljana
The celebration entitled “Read!” as an intertwinement of texts and music. The latter indicated the transition from the historical to the contemporary. The programme consisted of classical music (Fourth Movement of Mendelssohn’s Reformation Symphony, which placed Trubar in a broader European framework, songs from Trubar’s Catechism, a choral by Adam Bohorič and music composed by Jani Golob), which in the second part of the programme appeared in contemporary arrangements and was performed by soloists.
The programme also featured a dancing duo performing a choreography entitled “I Read to You, I Read You”, while two actors took us through the meaning and ways of reading.
The celebration was set on a stage with a line of chairs from various historical periods to the present time. Their different architectural styles represented a timeline complemented by books from different eras – from the first Slovenian book to the contemporary e-book.
