Boris Pahor, who celebrated 100 years this year, (born 26 August 1913) is a writer and a prominent public figure of the Slovene minority in Italy, and considered to be one of the most influential living authors writing in the Slovene language. Pahor has been nominated for the Nobel Prize for literature by the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a concentration camp survivor; he is most famous for his literary descriptions of life in the Nazi concentration camps and of life in his native city, Trieste.
